Privacy Policy
Last updated September 1, 2026
This policy explains what PDX Hunt collects when you book and play a hunt, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this short on purpose: we collect little, and we do not sell your information.
PDX Hunt is operated by PDX Hunt LLC, a Portland, Oregon company. PDX Hunt LLC is responsible for the information described in this policy.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you book a hunt, so we can send you your entry code and a few hunt-related messages.
- Payment information, handled entirely by Stripe. Stripe processes your card; we receive a confirmation that you paid and never see or store your full card number.
- Hunt progress, meaning how far your group has gotten, which is stored so your team stays in sync and can pick up where you left off.
- Your acceptance of the in-app safety rules, meaning a random identifier for the device that accepted, which version of the rules it accepted, and when. The identifier is generated on your device, is not derived from anything about your phone, and is not used to track you anywhere else. This record is stored against the booking your group is playing, which links it to the email used to book that hunt.
We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not build profiles about you.
How we measure the site
We count how our own website is used: which pages get visited, which hunts get looked at, and which buttons get pressed. We do this to find the places where the site is confusing or broken, which is hard to do without knowing where people give up.
This measurement runs on our own server. It is not handed to an advertising network or an analytics company, and nothing we record identifies you or follows you from one visit to the next: we store no cookie, no advertising identifier, and no number that would let us recognize your browser if you came back tomorrow. What we keep is a count of things that happened, along with which hunt they happened on.
We also record which link brought you here, such as a post on our Instagram or an ad we paid for, so we can tell whether the places we put our name are worth it. Your browser remembers that for the rest of your visit and forgets it when you close the tab. It says which link was clicked. It does not say who clicked it, and it is the same for everyone who followed the same link.
How we use it
- To deliver your entry code after you book.
- To send a short note when you finish.
- To provide support when you contact us.
- To operate, secure, and improve the hunts.
Instagram giveaways
We sometimes run giveaways on our Instagram account, @pdx_hunt. You enter by commenting on the giveaway post and tagging three or more friends. Entering is entirely your choice, and none of this applies to you unless you comment.
When you enter, we record three things: the identifier of your comment, your Instagram username, and your Instagram account identifier. We use them for one purpose, to send you a single direct message with your link and to make sure we never message you twice. We do not store the text of your comment, we never contact the friends you tag, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell or share any of it.
These records are deleted automatically about an hour after the giveaway closes, so once a giveaway is over we hold nothing about the people who entered it.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that make PDX Hunt work, and only as much as they need:
- Stripe processes payments.
- Our email provider delivers the messages above.
- Our hosting provider stores hunt and booking data.
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and hunt records as long as needed to run the service and meet our legal and accounting obligations, then remove them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below).
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from hunt emails at any time, and you can ask us to access or delete the information we hold about you by emailing support@pdxhunt.com. Some records tied to a completed purchase may need to be retained for legal reasons.
Children
PDX Hunt is meant for adults booking on behalf of themselves and their group. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Bookings and payment should be made by an adult.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
