Terms of Service
Last updated August 17, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and PDX Hunt LLC ("PDX Hunt," "we," "us"), a Portland, Oregon company founded by Jacin Harter, Erik Withak, and Alyssa Gonzales. By booking a hunt, entering a code, or otherwise using pdxhunt.com and our hunt player, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What PDX Hunt is
PDX Hunt sells self-guided scavenger hunts through Portland. A hunt is a series of clues you follow at your own pace on your own phone. It is not a guided tour: no employee, guide, or chaperone accompanies you, and you decide where you go and how you get there. You are responsible for bringing a charged, internet-capable phone and for your own transportation.
2. Booking and codes
When you book, you receive an entry code. Your code works from the moment it is issued and does not expire. You may share your code with your group; everyone plays together on their own phones using the same code.
One code is one booking. Codes are for personal use by you and your group and may not be resold, auctioned, or redistributed to the public.
3. Payment
Prices are shown at checkout and charged in United States dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. You are responsible for any taxes or fees that apply to your purchase.
4. Refunds
A hunt is delivered digitally and your code works from the moment it is issued, so codes are non-refundable. If something has gone wrong, email support@pdxhunt.com and we will put it right. Nothing here limits any rights you have under applicable law.
5. Assumption of risk and safety
A hunt has you walking around a real city. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of everyone in your group. That means paying attention to traffic, watching your footing, obeying all traffic and pedestrian signals, respecting weather and your own limits, and never following a clue into anywhere unsafe. Do not read clues, type answers, or stare at your phone while crossing streets or moving through traffic.
You take part voluntarily and at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assume the risks of participating, including the risks of walking in public spaces, and you release PDX Hunt LLC and its founders from claims arising out of your participation. If anyone in your group is a minor, an adult in the group is responsible for supervising them at all times.
If you book a hunt for other people, you are responsible for them. That means everyone who plays using your code and everyone who comes along with them, whether or not they enter the code or open the app themselves. You are responsible for making sure everyone in your party reads the safety rules shown in the app before they set off. Each person playing is also responsible for their own safety, and nothing in this section relieves anyone of that.
6. Acceptable use
- Obey all laws and posted rules while playing. A clue never asks you to trespass, enter private property, or do anything unsafe or illegal; if a route seems to require it, stop and use good judgment.
- Be respectful of the neighborhoods, businesses, residents, and other people you encounter.
- Do not damage, deface, or remove anything you find along the way.
- Do not resell, share publicly, or redistribute codes or hunt content.
- Do not attempt to break, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
7. Our content
The hunts, clues, puzzles, maps, text, artwork, and everything else PDX Hunt creates are our intellectual property and are provided to you for your personal use during play. You may not copy, publish, or create competing hunts from our content without our written permission.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and a hunt takes place in a changing city where a location or landmark may move or close.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDX Hunt LLC and its founders will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the service or your participation in a hunt, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid for the booking the claim relates to. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as PDX Hunt grows. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.
